RAPID CITY, S.D. — The National Weather Service has issued an air pollution alert for Rapid City west of the “The Gap” starting 6 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday morning.
30- to 40-mile-per-hour winds gusting to 70 miles-per-hour are forecasted for the area. Those winds can and will suspend fine dust in the air resulting in poor air quality.
The City’s Air Quality Office advises the elderly, young, and anyone with respiratory problems to consider avoiding excessive physical exertion and limit exposure to the outside area during the alert period.
