RAPID CITY, S.D. — Construction for OneHeart’s new cultural building is complete.
Located on OneHeart’s Campus, it’s the only new building on the property, which was obtained in 2019 and takes the place of two dilapidated structures.
The Cultural Center is roughly 1,500 square feet, consisting of an open meeting room, basic kitchen and sink, cabinets, and counterspace.
One-Heart officials say the main purpose of the building is to add to the support system for those in participating in ceremony, while providing another building for activities on campus.
“We wanted it to be a flexible space where other kind of programming could be available, so if our provider partners or if the staff at one heart wanted to do something in that in that space, have a class or training of some kind, it it’s now available too,” said Julie Oberlander, the community outreach coordinator for OneHeart.
Oberlander says that things like a sweat lodge and greenhouse will be incorporated down the road.
