RAPID CITY, S.D. — A great turnout for the annual National Guard Picnic at Camp Rapid concluded what signifies the wind down of the Golden Coyote Exercise.
Several hundred military men and women coming together and enjoying their food after a long week of strenuous work.
Many armed forces members from around the country taking part in the training, with some just passing through, like the 153rd Engineer Battalion.
Service members who took part in the training saying that the picnic is the perfect end as everything tends to wind down as they return home.
“We have a long road; we gotta move to back east side of South Dakota tomorrow, so it was kind of of a nice little pit spot for us to kinda swing through and get the opportunity to, you know, enjoy the picnic, and be able to just swing through and have an overnight here,” said Jason Thomson, the Battalion Commander for the 153rd Engineer Battalion.
As a general reminder, this is the end of the 37th annual Golden Coyote Exercise.
