NEWCASTLE, WY – Severe storms pushed through the Black Hills earlier Sunday evening, bringing up to baseball-sized hail (2.75″) in portions of northeastern Wyoming and the Bear Lodge Mountains.
Between 6:30 and 7:00 PM MDT, doppler radar indicated a rotating thunderstorm 10 miles north of Newcastle, WY. Storm chasers north of Newcastle shared pictures of what appears to be a cone tornado on the ground during this time period.
We are working to confirm these pictures. There has been no reports of damage at this time and the storm responsible for the tornado report has since dissipated.
