RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Rapid City Regional Airport Board of Directors are looking ahead to August and the Sturgis Rally.
The board has approved the staff to start requesting proposals to bring a motorcycle rental concession to the airport during the rally, similar to the car rental counters. This would give rally goers the chance to hop on a hog right off the plane.
Airport Executive Director Patrick Dame says the airport sees a lot of arrivals during the rally, and expects even more with new direct flights being offered by Allegiant.
“We do have semis that come in that have people’s bikes that are on them but we know we also have some folks who are flying in that go elsewhere to rent a bike and we just want to be able to provide that kind of service right here to our customers at the airport as well,” Dame said.
This request phase for bike rental proposals will help gage interest in the idea.
This would be the first time RAP would offer on-site motorcycle rentals.
