RAPID CITY, S.D. — A local woman’s donation will go a long way to brighten the holidays at the Children’s Home Society.
For several years now, Jayme Sloat has donated Christmas gifts for the kids served by the Children’s Home. During the year, Jayme collects items from friends, family, and donors from around the world and delivers them for the holidays. Thanks to her donation, hundreds of children will receive a new backpack, gloves and mittens, a book, and toys for Christmas.
The Children’s Home Society’s volunteer coordinator Abby Sharp says it’s community donations such as this that makes what they do possible.
“The kids at our campus live at the campus twenty four seven, three hundred and sixty five days a year so we need a lot of donors and donations to help those kiddos throughout the year.”
Sharp adds that the need for donations is constant with a need for items such as backpacks and gloves throughout the year.
