RAPID CITY, S.D. — It’s another year and that means another commitment from Rapid City Area School students to remain drug free.
After last week’s cancellation due to the snow, kids Monday gathered at Dinosaur Park to continue the annual tradition of the Red Ribbon Ceremony. Banners signed with countless names were hung from the dinosaur at the top of the hill. For the kids who took the pledge, Mayor Allender says inner circles are part of the battle.
“You can find a temptation to try drugs or alcohol everyday and you just have to be strong and rely on those adults and those friends around you that are like-minded. That they are willing to council you and keep you on your path” says Mayor Steve Allender.
Ribbons have been peppered throughout the city to remind students of their drug-free declaration.
