RAPID CITY, S.D. — For the first time on Wednesday night, the Rapid City Fire Department participated in the annual “Badges N’ Kids” shopping event.
The event, which is hosted by Badges For Hope, was changed from “Shop With A Cop” in order to include all local first responders. The Badges For Hope also put together fundraisers to allow local first responders to go out and shop for local kids in the community in need.
It serves as a great opportunity for responders to further serve the community and provide some Christmas cheer.
There certainly wasn’t a shortage of volunteers from the fire department who were glad to donate their time for the cause.
“This is one other step for us to give back,” said Jason Culberson, the Rapid City Fire Chief. “This time of year, it feels really good for us to be able to come in, shop and be able to give somebody a happy Christmas that may normally not have had one.”
More volunteers from the fire department as well as from other agencies will continue to donate throughout the week.
