RAPID CITY, S.D. — There was something of a cuteness overload the Central States Fair Grounds at the Red, White and Run Barrel Races Saturday.
A total of 180 participants put their best foot forward in four different groups, two that were up to age 13, a Peewee Division which was zero to seven and then a division for everyone else.
Lana Dacar’s company, LI Productions, ran the event.
Dacar even had her daughter compete in the Peewee Division, something Dacar says gives parents a great opportunity to let their kids get started in barrel racing and sharpen their skills.
“It’s fun to see them start to go through the barrels on their own,” said Dacar. “We give em’ lots of awards and encouragement to keep going as a mom. We all know that we started here and so it’s really fun to watch these kids grow up and gain confidence and get better every time they go.”
Cash and prizes were given out to all participants in all categories.
