SPEARFISH, S.D. — Utility rates for residents of Spearfish are set to go up beginning January 1, 2022, after the Spearfish City Council approved a rate change due to cost increases in landfill tipping and equipment repairs.
Residential rates for garbage collection will be $16.58 for a 65-gallon container or $19.60 for a 95-gallon container, plus tax.
Fixed rates for residential sewer, wastewater, and water base will be $22.63, $29.32, and $16,66, respectively.
The average residential utility customer using 5,000 gallons of water per month would see an increase of roughly $4.38 per month.
Commercial rates for sewer, wastewater, and water base, as well as lawn meters, will also see an increase.
