RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rodeo Rapid City is known for attracting the top cowboys and cowgirls from across the country including Stetson Wright.
The 21-year old from Milford, Utah recently won two world titles at the 2020 National Finals Rodeo in Arlington, Texas.
Wright won the all-around title, as well as, the bull riding championship and he finished seventh in the saddle bronc.
Wright is the first contestant to win back-to-back all-around world championships since Trevor Brazile in 2014-15.
Wright felt it was harder to win a world title in 2020, due to the pandemic and the cancellations of so many rodeos.
“Last year, everybody was at the same rodeos,” Stetson Wright said. “So you were riding against the guys that made the NFR all year long every rodeo. So I felt like winning a world title this year was just as hard if not harder than any other year just because you were riding against the top guys all year long. It just felt really good to come out on top and it was just fun.”
The rodeo action at Rodeo Rapid City resumes Thursday, Feb. 4 with the first of four PRCA rodeo performances.
