RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Rush are hosting their “Rush Gives Back Night” in conjunction with the team’s annual “Teddy Bear Toss” on Saturday, April 3rd.
“All the tickets in the arena are discounted to $25. From those ticket prices or from those tickets sold, $5 is going to go back into a fundraising pool basically and hopefully we’ll get up to $10,000 in that fundraising pool. If we do, Black Hills Energy is going to match the $10,000,” said Valerie Persinger, the Vice President of Business Development for the Rapid City Rush.
The four partners that will be receiving a portion of that fundraising pool includes:
– Boys and Girls Clubs of the Black Hills
– Court Appointed Special Advocates or “CASA”
– Fork Real Café
– Special Olympics South Dakota
Due to Covid-19 protocol, fans will be asked to do things a little differently this year when it comes to tossing out the teddy bear. “At the first intermission we’ll say ‘okay go ahead throw those teddies’ and everyone throws them onto the ice. Once they get on the ice, our volunteers and our staff help clean those up and then they’re donated to different organizations throughout the community. So Youth & Family Services, Rural American Initiatives and CASA as well. If you cant make it to the game on Saturday to drop off your teddies, you can also swing by the Civic Center on Friday or Saturday during the day. We have a truck from the Moving Guys that’s gonna be there and you can toss your teddies in there,” said Persinger.
The Rapid City Rush take on the Wichita Thunder at 7:05 p.m. at the Civic Center.
