DEADWOOD, S.D. — A major fundraiser is taking place this weekend to benefit a retreat focused on helping those who gave all for country and community.
The Sacred Mountain Retreat Center in Deadwood is holding its third annual Winter Gala this Saturday, Feb. 13, in the Lodge at Deadwood. The annual event is the Retreat’s biggest fundraiser, helping active duty military, veterans, law enforcement, first responders, and gold star families suffering from PTSD and drug or alcohol abuse. Funds raised go towards operation of the retreat that offers its seven-day program at no cost.
Founder Jerrid Geving saying that visitors to the Retreat find it so beneficial they return to volunteer or assist in other ways.
“So this is our third year, we’ve had over a hundred men and women that have came through the program…I would say that out of the hundred people, there is so many people that come back to help as mentors, help volunteer, that help raise money back in their hometown, their home state,” Geving said.
The Sacred Mountain Winter Gala kicks off this Saturday in the Lodge at Deadwood with cocktail hour starting at 5 p.m. and dinner starting at 6 p.m. The Puppies Healing Program will be uniting two heroes with a new furry companion.
