RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City setting a sales tax revenue record for the month of January with $2.3 million.
Multiple factors are getting the credit, such as nice weather and government stimulus money.
Darrell Shoemaker, Communications Coordinator for Rapid City, said, “Looking at January, if we were to point to a couple of different factors. In late December, early January remember many people got a stimulus check that was their second check. The fact that also January was a mild weather month. And the third factor that we have every year is the start of the stock show.”
The sales tax for Rapid City is two percent.
