RAPID CITY, S.D. — With kids going back to school during the pandemic, the need for school supplies is greater than ever.
The Salvation Army donates backpacks and school supplies every year to families who need help getting their children ready for the new school year.
This year was a little different due to the effect of COVID-19, but it allowed for donations to be made online.
More than 400 book bags were packed with supplies and donated.
“Being able to help families in need and being able to put smiles on kids faces that may not have had backpacks or school supplies,” said Angie Mason, the Volunteer Coordinator for the Salvation Army Its a great feeling we’re very glad to be able to help out the community.”
The Salvation Army will hold another school supply donation in Spearfish on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.
