PIERRE, S.D. — According to the South Dakota Department of Health, 98% of new COVID-19 cases in the state are occurring among unvaccinated people.
Additionally, unvaccinated people make up 95% of COVID-19 hospitalizations in South Dakota.
Wednesday’s weekly update of COVID-19 numbers can be found below.
PIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Department of Health’s weekly COVID-19 update showed 170 new confirmed cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 109,597.
30 new probable cases were reported.
12 cases of the B.1.617.2 – or Delta – variant have been reported so far.
One new death was added, putting the states death toll at 2,041.
70 confirmed cases were reported West River: 30 in Pennington County, nine each in Meade and Lawrence Counties, eight in Dewey County, five in Oglala Lakota County, three in Fall River County, two each in Butte and Mellette Counties, and one each in Harding and Lyman Counties.
13 probable cases were reported West River: eight in Pennington County, four in Dewey County, and one in Todd County.
In South Dakota, 290 cases are considered active, that number is up from 208 last week.
An additional 115 people have recovered from the virus, which puts the total number of recoveries at 122,617.
38 people are currently hospitalized; a total of 6,498 have been hospitalized since the pandemic began.
