RAPID CITY, S.D. — Between January 28 to February 5, the South Dakota Future Farmers of America will be highlighting agriculture in the Rodeo Zone during the Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo Rapid City.
The Ag Adventure Zone is a special project of the SD FFA Foundation and is sponsored by the South Dakota Farm Bureau.
According to a release from the SD FFA, the project will illustrate the diversity of South Dakota agriculture with interactive and educational exhibits on beef, swine, grain and more from production to processing. The exhibits will be located in the Ice Arena at The Monument.
The mission of the Ag Adventure Zone is to showcase modern agricultural, communicate commitment to natural resources and demonstrate wholesome, safe food production for all ages. There will also be industry volunteers, State FFA officers and District 5 FFA members at the exhibits to host activities and interact with Black Hills Stock Show attendees.
“We are extremely thankful for the support of the South Dakota Farm Bureau and Sutton Rodeo to bring this import event to Rodeo Rapid City,” said South Dakota FFA Executive Secretary, Dani Herring. “We hope that this partnership will carry on for years to come so we can continue to educate the public about agriculture.”
In addition to the Ag Adventure Zone, the SD FFA will also be launching “FFA Day” on Monday, January 31 for high school FFA members from South Dakota, Nebraska and Wyoming. The members will attend interactive presentations and learn from industry leaders on topics in four agriculture pathways including animal systems, plant systems, power/structural systems and advocacy/communications.
Other activities that the FFA members will attend are a livestock judging school, cattle shows, cattle sales and show vendors.
