RAPID CITY, S.D. — The head football coach at national runner-up South Dakota State has thrown down the gauntlet in the name of Feeding South Dakota.
Coach John Stiegelmeier and his wife, Laurie, have challenged South Dakotans to fight childhood hunger and they’re putting their money where their mouths are.
Through Thursday, May 27th, the Stiegelmeier’s will match every dollar donated to Feeding South Dakota up to $12,000. The money will go toward sustaining existing programs such as the Backpack Program for kids.
“I knew about this challenge when I was going to school up there. I think John Stiegelmeier is a great guy that really can rally his group, rally that community up there in Brookings. And it really just…when a guy of his stature comes forward it really can rally the whole state together and it really brings all of us together, especially for children hunger,” said Garrett Ellis with Feeding South Dakota.
