RAPID CITY, S.D. — If you’re looking to go camping in the next few months or over the summer, South Dakota Game, Fish, & Parks says you can start making reservations at campsites now.
SDGF&P say that they have now opened their 90-day window that allows for campers to plan out their next outdoor adventure. They say that helps you know of your options to help you plan out your next camping trip during the next major holiday, like Mother’s Day weekend that’s coming up.
However, if you find that your favorite camping spot is taken, they say that you should keep looking because you never know what you could find.
“There are a lot of hidden gem parks out there that maybe you’re not aware of, maybe you don’t know about, but you can go and have a top notch experience and one of them might even become your favorite park and then you go and you can get that campsite every single year too, so I mean definitely go out and explore,” said Nick Harrington, the Communications Manager for the SDGF&P. “That’s something I really, really encourage people to do.”
Harrington says that during the week after those major holiday weekends are also a great time to reserve a unique campsite.
