SPEARFISH, S.D. — The Spearfish Community Garden is now open.
On Saturday morning, new members of the garden community met to go over the amenities of the garden, which is in a partnership with the City of Spearfish and the Northern Hills Master Gardeners.
Those looking after the garden say that the meeting was a good opportunity for newer members to come out and their new gardens started for the new planting season.
“Basically got the beds ready to plant and had a meeting today to show everybody where things were at, how to turn the water on and off, and where the tools are at, so now it’s pretty much open for them to start planting whatever they want as soon as the weather permits,” said Jack French, the Manager of the Spearfish Community Garden.
A total of 29 four-by-ten-foot plots are for rent, each going for $20 a piece.
