SPEARFISH, S.D. — The Spearfish Police Department has a new mascot.
Meet Scooby, an eight-year-old Bassett Hound, Pit-Bull and Corgi combine.
He had been dwelling on the Western Hills Humane Society since November, and the Spearfish PD had been trying to usher in an workplace pet for a while.
The division’s animal management officer, Scott Beal, had observed Scooby was the final unclaimed canine on the shelter and determined he’d be the proper mascot.
After a trial run, the police adopted Scooby, who’s taking the transition in stride.
