RAPID CITY, S.D. — Saturday, May 29th, the park opens, featuring over 100 storybook and fairy tale sets that kids and parents alike enjoy.
It’s a place that children can use their imaginations, take a ride on Storybook Island Train or the vintage carousel.
The park is 61 years old and will host a 62nd birthday party on August 16th.
Jackie Laws, the Executive Director of Storybook Island, says,“We are super excited; there are five of us here full time year-round getting the park beautiful and maintaining it. We do have some new things, so as you walk through the park check out the new and updated things we have done for the year.”
Bunny’s Heroes will be at Storybook Island for opening day on May 29th. The park is open from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. daily until Labor Day.
Adults can have some fun on June 12th at the Adult Fun Night Fundraiser.
The adult event will includes a corn hole tournament, live music, and adult beverages for purchase.
They are also fundraising for a new piece of playground equipment at the park. With the new inclusive equipment, children of all abilities can play together on the same equipment, at the same time. The integration helps children of all ages and abilities develop strong social skills by meeting people who are different than them.
