STURGIS, S.D. — The roar is getting louder in the Black Hills as the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally reached its mid-point.
Tuesday brought in 60,626 more vehicles, bringing this years total to 313,363, according to the South Dakota Department of Transportation. That is a 14.7% hike from this time last year.
Citations (865) and warnings (2,340) still continue to rise as more bikers flow into the hills, yet arrests for DUIs (down 11.9%), misdemeanor drug possessions (down 27.3%) and felony drug possessions (down 14.1%) are still lower than 2020s day five stats.
400 more official cups have been delivered to outlets on Tuesday, bringing the total up to 13,200. As for COVID-19 tests, only 40 have been requested since the start of Rally.
No special events are scheduled for Thursday, so enjoy the day exploring the Black Hills. Or you can head over to the Buffalo Chip, where Anthrax will play from 10:30 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.
