RAPID CITY, S.D. — The annual Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo is underway.
Every year, it brings everything from cattle sales, rodeo events and much more.
The ribbon cutting ceremony, which kicked off the nine-day event featured many guests including Rapid City Mayor Steve Allender.
Social distancing was encouraged. Monument Health even gave small hand sanitizer bottles to the public to ensure safety during the pandemic.
Officials say that the event attracts many competitors from around the nation and serves as a key piece of the local economy.
“The Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo is one of the largest events in Rapid City. In fact, the second largest event in South Dakota with between 200,000 and 300,000 people attending each year, with an economic impact of over $22 million.”
The stock show will go on until next Sunday, February 7.
