**THIS DAY IN WEATHER HISTORY: On this day in 1992: Light snow fell across the region with some moderate accumulations upwards of five inches reported in Redig and Lemmon. Bison and Camp Crook reported 4 inches and Lead had 3.1 inches.**
It’s time for Season 1, Episode 32 of The Erik Files. After yesterday’s wind event, we have finally calmed down for the most part. As of the time that I am writing this, we are at 46 degrees with a Wind Chill of 38 degrees.
TAKE A LOOK AT HOW WE GOT THERE:
So, we started off with temps in the Mid 30’s by 5:00 AM. We dropped to the Upper 20’s – Low 30’s at 7 AM & 8 AM, then by the 9:00 Hour, we shot back up to 42, and we’ve hovered in the mid 40’s for a while now.

Notice if you practically go in any direction of Rapid City, you’ll run into rain. Now we did see a few drops here in Rapid City earlier today, but it wasn’t much. It certainly wasn’t enough to put a dent in the drought. As a matter of fact, here are the latest numbers, and notice Pine Ridge. 8.33″ BELOW Normal for the entire year.

So you notice the majority of Johnson County, Sheridan County, NW Campbell County, as well as Southern Oglala Lakota County are under an EXTREME Drought. We really need the precipitation, and at this point, we really need a good snowfall or 2 just to offset this map.

The Black Hills region is forecasted to have Wetter than Normal conditions . Hopefully this plays out as, like I mentioned, we need the precipitation!
