FORECAST DISCUSSION:
Well, the 90’s returned yesterday. Some places could see them again today. I am going with 89 here in Rapid City. Wall, Interior, Hot Springs, Philip, Newcastle, Pine Ridge, and Martin, I think you’ll go back into the 90’s again today.
Overnight Lows again, will feel very fall like out there. Upper 40’s – Low 50’s will be the general rule across the Black Hills area.
One thing that we have to worry about is the smoke and haze that is returning to the Black Hills.
DETAILED FORECAST:
As mentioned, we have to keep an eye on the smoke and haze that is returning to the Black Hills. Temps today will be a smidge cooler than yesterday at least here in Rapid City. Abundant sunshine will be the dominant factor in today’s forecast, but with the haze and smoke out, please take it easy if you have to be outdoors for a long period of time, especially if you have respiratory issues.
TONIGHT:
Areas of smoke remains, otherwise lots of stars, and a little wind. Winds will shift and be out of the North, then the Northwest around 5-10 MPH. That north wind will be the factor in keeping us cool for tomorrow. Overnight low will be in the 40’s & 50’s. I am going with the Double Nickels (55 Degrees) in Rapid City
7-DAY FORECAST:
As mentioned, we are going to cool off tomorrow with highs in the 70’s. Keep in mind, our average high for this time of year is 76 degrees, and you can see the rollercoaster ride of temperatures. Notice on the 7 Day, I do have the precip chance in there for Thursday Night, Friday Morning, and again Saturday Night. It’s just an isolated chance, but a chance nonetheless.

Here’s a look at the 8-14 Day outlook as issued by the Climate Prediction Center. You’ll notice above normal temperatures remain in play, but we are still seeing below normal precipitation chances. We could really use a good soaking right about now.
