** THIS DAY IN WEATHER HISTORY: ON THIS DAY IN 1965: A heavy snow event brought widespread snowfall across the region with snowfall accumulations of 1 inch in Colony and Devils Tower, 2.6 inches at the Rapid City Airport, 4 inches in Oelrichs, 5.1 inches in Redig, and 8 inches in Lead, Spearfish, and Sundance.**
Ladies & Gentlemen, we are halfway through the week! Abundant sunshine is the big story again for today. The good news is the temperature will be cooler today as compared to yesterday.
HOUR BY HOUR FORECAST:
We’ll start off with temperatures in the mid – upper 50’s by around 9:00 AM. Temps will only be in the Mid-60’s by your Lunch Hour, and only making it into the Low 70’s by the Mid – Late Afternoon hours. One thing to note, the haze and smoke will continue to linger around.
YESTERDAY:
Take a look at yesterday’s Almanac. We had a high of 84 degrees after a morning start of 47. 76 and 46 is where we should be for this time of year. You’ll notice the Precipitation. We are still over an inch of rain ABOVE normal for the month, but for the year, that deficit keeps getting higher at 1.79 inches below normal, so again we really need the moisture.
HURRICANE SALLY
Hurricane Sally made landfall at Gulf Shores, AL. earlier this morning. Here’s something that’s ironic; 16 years ago TODAY, Hurricane Ivan made landfall in Gulf Shores as well.
FORECAST:
TODAY: The Haze & Smoke will remain, otherwise Sunny Skies. Highs today will be in the low 70’s. Winds will be out of the Southeast at 5-10 MPH
TONIGHT:Haze & Smoke continues. Clear skies will be the rule with winds out of the South at around 5-10 MPH
7 DAY FORECAST
The haze will continue again tomorrow before it starts to clear out for the weekend. We will go back into the mid-80’s for Saturday with an evening T-Storm Chance. After that, we’ll cool off again with temps in the Mid – Upper 70’s for Sunday & Monday
