BOX ELDER, S.D. — Box Elder City Hall in collaboration with the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office hosted their very first Fall Harvest Festival and the weather was on their side.
Hundreds gathered to partake in a day of fun which included a 750-pumpkin giveaway, a hay ride, and bouncy castles among other free activities for all to enjoy.
Organizers say with fall festivals happening throughout the Black Hills, why not Box Elder?
“People are just blown away. We’re hearing nothing but compliments and we had one Box Elder resident who said I‘ve been a Box Elder resident for over 30 years. I never dreamed we’d do anything like this in Box Elder. We always have to go to other towns for it, so it’s great to see something like this put on in our city,” said Jimmy Dettman, the Marketing and Events Director for the city of Box Elder.
With the successful launch of this very first festival, Jimmy says one next year will be certain.
