RAPID CITY, S.D. — Every weekend is STEAM Weekend at The Journey Museum and Learning Center. On Saturdays and Sundays, kids get the opportunity to learn about science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
Museum employees design hands-on experiments and games that involve common materials to simulate the science we see in everyday life. Sunday’s lesson was stacking materials of different densities in a cup to demonstrate the layers of the atmosphere.
If you missed this one though, not to worry, because there are plenty more ahead! “What’s upcoming is Cattle, Cans, and Cowboys, during the Stock Show and I’m really excited about that, because those that were riding the range and taking care of moving the cattle along had to eat. So what they would pack is cans, or known as air-tights,” explains Sylvia Trentz, on the Education Team at The Journey Museum.
There will also be some Valentine’s Day themed lessons in February. A schedule for the weekends ahead can be found here.
