The Salvation Army invites public to 2021 Walk for Warmth

RAPID CITY, S.D. —  The Salvation Army of the Black Hills is inviting the public to the 2021 Walk for Warmth on Saturday February 20th.

The 1.5-mile walk will start and end at Main Street Square. Registration is $10 per person, $5 student rate with student ID or Military, children under 12 can participate at no cost. T-shirts are available for $20 each as well.

All funds raised go towards energy assistance programs administered by The Salvation Army. Black Hills Energy will match all donations up to $10,000.

Onsite registration begins at 12:00 p.m. with the walk kicking off at 2:00 p.m. Participants can also register ahead of time at www.walkforwarmthrc.com or visit the website to make an online donation of support without registering to walk, if they choose.

The Walk for Warmth is a community-wide effort, organized by Black Hills Energy, The Salvation Army, HomeSlice Media and Main Street Square.

Mayor Steve Allendar is declaring the day “Walk for Warmth Day” in Rapid City and event sponsors include Monument Health, Eagle Sky Patrol, Gustafson Builders, The Medicine Shoppe, Butler Machinery, First Interstate Bank, The Rapid City Rush, Coeur Mining and Strider. Downtown businesses will also offer participants special deals throughout the day.

Every year The Salvation Army assists hundreds of households facing an energy crisis throughout the Black Hills. The Walk for Warmth ensures families in need stay warm in the harsh winter cold and cool in the extreme summer heat.
