STURGIS, S.D. — The pandemic has put a lot of things in flux, including local events and celebrations.
While the Sturgis Parade of Lights wasn’t to the size or capacity as compared to 2019, many still made their way to be a part of the light celebration.
A total of 33 floats registered for this year’s parade, which brought many creative designs.
The process for registration changed a bit, but it still made for a bright turnout.
“This year, it’s been awesome,” said Receptionist & Events Coordinator for Sturgis Chamber of Commerce, Kiara Poitra. “The process is pretty simple, I just kinda send out a couple emails to everybody making sure that they want to do it again. They come by, pick up their float numbers so the judges can give them some awards, and then they basically do the rest.”
The festivities continue Saturday with a free holiday crafts at Harley Davidson rally point from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.
