SPEARFISH, S.D. — Two Spearfish police officers were honored during the City Council Meeting on Wednesday.
2020 Spearfish Police Department Officer of the Year, Christopher Woods, and recently-promoted Sgt. Dustin Bush received applause and congratulations from the Mayor and City Council, family, friends, and colleagues present, and were treated to a reception after the meeting.
Woods, who was hired as a patrol officer in 2019, received an award certificate from Chief Curt Jacobs in recognition of his outstanding professionalism, highest percentage in traffic enforcement, and top percentile in calls for service.
Bush, who was hired as a patrol officer in 2010, was honored with a pinning ceremony for his recent promotion to sergeant. His wife, Jenna, pinned his new badge and sergeant chevrons on his uniform during the meeting.
“We have such amazing personnel in this department,” said Chief Jacobs. “I am very proud of Officer Woods and Sgt. Bush, thank them for all of their service and leadership, and look forward to seeing their continued success.”
