PIERRE, S.D. — Two West River businesses have earned top awards from the South Dakota Retailer’s Association.
Colonial House in Rapid City won the SDRA’s Restaurant of the Year award, while Keffeler Kreations in Faith took home Retailer of the Year.
The Restaurant of the Year award recognizes a restaurant that has earned a reputation for excellence with its food, service, and atmosphere. The Beshara Family – Kevin, his wife Vicky, and son Max – will celebrate their 40th year owning the business in 2021. They’re the third generation of Beshara’s working in the business, carrying on the tradition of food service and keeping it convenient, comfortable, and lighthearted.
“It’s just being part of the community and it’s sharing with that guest,” says Beshara. “I’ll cry with a guest or pray with a guest or laugh with a guest. I can do any of those and make them feel as comfortable as I possibly can in our facility. It’s home to us.”
Dana Keffeler, of Keffeler Kreations in Faith, was named Retailer of the Year, an award that has been presented annually since 1982 in recognition of businesses committed to excellence in their business and making a positive change in their local communities.
Keffeler purchased a flower shop as a leap-of-faith ten years ago, and expanded it to include a new store, a coffee/sandwich shop, clothing and accessory store, and embroidery and screen-printing shop. She also runs a greenhouse in the spring, rents out space to a salon, and rents a room for massage therapists and chiropractors.
“I love my job. It was a risk but I don’t regret it at all,” Keffeler said. “Take a risk because life rewards you. It’s worth the journey.”
