RAPID CITY, S.D. — Guy & Irene Siverson at Graceful Touch Massage went into the business to help people.
Guy Siverson, Licensed Massage Therapist and co-owner of Graceful Touch Massage, says, “Watching them be able to realize a more comfortable, less painful life process and knowing that we had something to contribute to that.”
They were contacted by the V.A. for potential candidates to their community care program. They jumped at the chance to service veterans and have been offering V.A. benefit services for about three months.
Guy says the amount of veteran clients is quickly increasing. Qualifying veterans are prescribed the therapy from their doctor and then can choose a participating massage therapist in the area. And can get up to 12, 30-minute sessions, but sessions vary based on need.
Some may consider massage therapy a luxury, but for many it is used to help manage a health condition and enhance wellness.
Siverson says, “As you get the body’s toxins released, as you get the circulation flowing and what not, you benefit your entire body, the whole health process just brings everything forward in a very powerful way.”
One of their clients says that she is grateful the V.A. is offering the massage service outreach and that the massage therapy has changed everything for her.
She says it’s replaced mediations, given her more hours in her day, and peace of mind.
