Wall businesses, Chamber help raise $25,000 for Ambulance Service equipment

RAPID CITY, S.D. — After a painstaking fundraising process that took a year, the Wall Ambulance Service, with the help of the community, has raised enough money for a heart monitor.

After the old cardiac monitor was exchanged for roughly $3,000, that left $25,000 dollars left to be raised. The Wall community and businesses responded by raising the money and helping out its first responders.

Wall Fire officials say that donations like this play a huge part in providing for volunteer services and keeping ambulance services going.

“On the ambulance side, we are a tax district but unfortunately those funds don’t even cover the payroll for the ambulance service so any time people make donations, it’s extremely beneficial for the volunteer services,” said Carrie Schell, an active member of the Wall and Wasta Volunteer Fire Departments.

Schell says that donations are always welcome and needed for ambulance service equipment.
