RAPID CITY, S.D. — Kids at the YMCA in Rapid City took advantage of a beautiful day Friday for Healthy Kids Day – an event full of games, activities, and educational displays designed to get kids moving and teach them the importance of staying active.
“Monument Health brought their blow-up heart and lung display, that really gives us a chance to educate our kids on the importance of taking care of our bodies. We’ve got some great healthy snacks available and just getting our kids out and about. Like I said the weather’s cooperating today for us, we’ve all been in quarantine way too long,” said Becky Javinar, Rapid City YMCA Health and Wellness Director.
Healthy Kids Day was presented by Monument Health along with some help from the Rapid City Police Activities League and Strider Bikes. This is the first time the Y has held the event after putting things on hold last year, and they’re looking forward to it growing annually.
